Easy Ways To Modify And "Dress Up" Your Chimichurri Sauce

Blog

Buying wholesale chimichurri sauce is a great way to get quite a lot of it at an affordable price. It's nice to have it on hand when you need it. However, you may find yourself with more chimichurri than you know what to do with, and you might also find that you want to change up the flavor of the sauce. When this happens, an easy solution is to "dress up" your chimichurri sauce with a few extra ingredients. You can give it a whole new life and then use it more creatively. Here are some ways you can do just that.

Add some more fresh herbs.

Fresh herbs are a key ingredient in chimichurri. However, as your wholesale chimichurri ages, the herbs within it may start to lose a little of their punch and potency. You can jazz the chimichurri up again by simply stirring in some new, fresh herbs. Chop up a tablespoon or two of basil, oregano, dill, or whatever herb you happen to have on hand. Stir it in, and let it rest for about 10 minutes for the flavors to meld. You'll love the fresh, herbal pop you get when you sample a spoonful.

Add some spice.

Traditional chimichurri is made with chili peppers for a hint of heat, but most manufacturers don't add enough to make the sauce truly spicy. If you like spicy foods, then, adding some more hot pepper is a good way to change up your extra chimichurri. Chop up a jalapeno, and toss it in. Leave some of the seeds in the pepper if you want more heat; they are the hottest part! If you don't have whole peppers on hand, you can instead take things up a notch by stirring in some Tabasco sauce or Sriracha.

Sweeten it up.

Chefs often say that to make a perfectly balanced dish, you need salt, fat, acid, and heat. Chimichurri has a little sweetness from the red wine or apple cider vinegar used to make it. But if you add a little more sweetness to that wholesale chimichurri, you'll take it to a whole new level. A drizzle of honey is a nice addition. You can use a drizzle of agave syrup if you prefer.

When you have a lot of chimichurri on hand, you don't have to enjoy it all in the same way. Use one or more of these ideas to add some variety.
